In October, 2004, the Alberta government introduced new legislation to
deal with minor injuries suffered in motor vehicle accidents (MVA).
Under the new legislation, if you are injured in an accident and suffer a
minor injury (whiplash, neck or back strain, contusion, TMJ issues,
dizziness, etc) your treatments will be covered by your automobile
insurance regardless of who was at fault.
It is necessary to be assessed by a primary health care provider
(physiotherapist, general practitioner or chiropractor) within 10 days
of your accident so you can get started on your recovery straight away,
and to ensure your claim is processed correctly. These treatments will
be billed directly to your insurer with no out of pocket cost to you for
up to 90 days following the accident. Read More >>

Orthotics at Bonavista Physical Therapy
Custom orthotics at Bonavista Physical Therapy are molded by Kari Lambden and the molds are sent in to a local lab for fabrication. A thorough assessment of the foot, knee, and hip as well as a gait analysis is completed before molds are made. An examination of footwear is also helpful. A complete exam including molds usually takes about an hour.
Orthotics are generally prescribed for:
a) Shock absorption /stress reduction
b) Motion control and alignment
c) Immobilization and support
d) Correcting deformity

Calgary Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a treatment technique used to relieve pain, enhance healing and therefore improve function. It involves the insertion of very fine needles through the skin at specific points. No medicines are injected through the needles.
Traditional acupuncture has been used in China for more than three thousand years. Research has shown that acupuncture causes the body’s own natural painkillers (endorphins) and anti inflammatories (cortisol) to be released in the brain. This makes acupuncture a great adjunct to physiotherapy. Read More >>
